Dominican Republic participates in the IRIS Program's Second Call for Proposals Launched at SIDS4 Conference in Antigua and Barbuda
Delhi- The second call for proposals for the IRIS program of the Coalition for Disaster Resilience Infrastructure (CDRI) was officially launched at the SIDS4 Conference in Antigua and Barbuda in May 2024. The event saw the participation of Mr. Max Puig, Executive Vice President of the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism of the Dominican Republic, focal point for the CDRI in the Dominican Republic.
The IRIS program aims to support the development of resilient infrastructure in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), addressing the challenges posed by climate change and natural disasters. The deadline for submitting proposals is August 31, 2024.
During the SIDS4 Conference, the IRIS program was honored with the 2024 UN SIDS Partnership Award, recognizing its impactful contribution to sustainable development across island nations. This award underscores the program's vital role in promoting resilience and supporting long-term development in vulnerable regions.
In 2023, under the first call of proposals for the IRIS program, two Dominican Republic proposals, one national and one regional, were amongst the 11 projects selected for funding.
