Consular Jurisdiction - The nationals from the following countries can apply for a visa at the Consular Section of our Embassy:

Having completed all the requirements demanded below, DOES NOT IMPLY AN APPROVAL OF THE VISA, but indicates that the consulate can accept your request, evaluate it and send it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who will issue a final decision.

The consular officer cannot decide whether or not to grant you a Visa until you formally request and your application is evaluated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Therefore, we strongly advise you to do not purchase non-refundable airline tickets or make other travel plans until you receive your visa.

Tourism Visa

Fee: Single Entry- US$100

Multiple Entry- US$150

Important! Applicants in possession of a valid multiple entry visa for USA, Canada, UK or Schengen countries may obtain a tourist card upon arrival, if traveling for tourism purposes only.

Checklist - Documents Requirement for - Tourist Visa

  1. Original passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.

  2. Visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.

  3. One recent passport size photograph, white background, 4*5 centimetres, duly pasted on application. (Do not staple the photographs)

  4. Travel Itinerary and hotel reservation. No confirmed booking nor air ticket required.

  5. Cover letter from the applicant explaining the purpose of their trip. (A courtesy translation in Spanish is mandatory).

  6. Documents showing economic solvency:

    • Bank letter stating date of opening of an account, annual average balance maintained during the year, date of last deposit in the account or bank certificates. (Mandatory)

    • Bank statement-last 3 months. (Mandatory)

    • Certificate of employment indicating date of joining, position held and salary at the company. (Optional)

    • Titles of ownership of residence, business, farm or land, or vehicle registration if it applies. (Optional)

  7. Original passport, copy of the bio-data page and copy of valid visas pages.

  8. Invitation letter (if available) - If invited by friend or relative, applicant must attach an invitation letter in Spanish which should be notarized and legalized by the Procuraduría General de la República Dominicana along with a copy of the Dominican ID (Cédula) or residence status of the Guarantor/Invitee. Also, the letter must include the following clause:


    “Garantizo que (nombre, nacionalidad y pasaporte), no permanecerá en la República Dominicana más tiempo que el concedido por la Dirección General de Migración, ni solicitará residencia o cambio de estatus migratorio desde el territorio dominicano, dedicándose exclusivamente a la actividad por la cual le fue otorgado el visado. Me hago moral y económicamente responsable de su retorno a su país de origen, asumiendo pagar a favor del Estado Dominicano cualquier gasto en que dicha persona pueda incurrir durante su estancia en el país, o que se origine como consecuencia de su repatriación o deportación del mismo”.

  9. Police clearance certificate (PCC) emitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the respective Apostille (if applicable). PCC should not be older than 1 year and a certified translation in Spanish is mandatory.

Business Visa

Fee: Single Entry- US$150

  10. Copy of the valid documents of the Guarantor emitted by the authorities of the Dominican Republic, such a copy of the Resident card and copy of the passport.

  11. Medical certificate which includes a general health diagnostic of the applicant, indicating whether he or she suffers from any type of infectious disease. This certificate must be issued by a relevant health authority, medical laboratory, clinic or hospital registered by the Ministry of Public Health.

  12. Birth Certificate-duly apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (a certified translation in Spanish is mandatory).

  13. Marriage certificate-duly apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (a certified translation in Spanish is mandatory).

Student Visa

Fee: US$100

Checklist - Documents Requirement for - Student Visa

  1. Original passport with a minimum validity of 18 months.

  2. Visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.

  3. One recent passport size photograph, white background, 4*5 centimetres, duly pasted on application. (Do not Staple the photographs)

  4. Travel Itinerary and hotel reservation. No confirmed booking nor air ticket required.

  5. Cover letter from the applicant explaining the purpose of their trip. (A courtesy translation in Spanish is mandatory)

  6. Financial support from the person or entity that will cover the studies. This can be demonstrated by providing these documents: 

    • Documents showing economic solvency by Parents or Guardians. For example: 

      • Bank letter stating date of opening of an account, annual average balance maintained during the year, date of last deposit in the account or bank certificates. (Mandatory)

      • Bank statement-last 3 months. (Mandatory)

      • Certificate of employment indicating date of joining, position held and salary at the company. (Optional)

      • Titles of ownership of residence, business, farm or land, or vehicle registration if it applies. (Optional)

    • Document accrediting the scholarship from the institution that will pay for the studies. 

      *These documents must specify the amount of financial support or scholarship awarded, as well as the duration for which it has been provided. In both cases, this record must be written on letterhead and certified by the corresponding institution, duly translated into Spanish, legalized or apostilled as appropriate.

  7. Original passport, copy of the bio-data page and copy of valid visas pages.

  8. Birth Certificate-duly apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (A certified translation in Spanish is mandatory)

  9. Police clearance certificate (PCC) emitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the respective Apostille (if applicable). PCC should not be older than 1 year and a certified translation in Spanish is mandatory.

  10. Medical certificate which includes a general health diagnostic of the applicant, indicating whether he or she suffers from any type of infectious disease. This certificate must be issued by a relevant health authority, medical laboratory, clinic or hospital registered by the Ministry of Public Health.

  11. Certification of acceptance by the University and / or institution in the Dominican Republic:

    • New University admission.

    • Religious: Letter of request from the highest-ranking superior in your church, indicating that you are coming to study religious / theological studies within your recognized congregation in the country.

    • Internship: Copy of the agreement between the foreign study center and the Dominican institution. 

Work Visa

Fee: US$200

  10. Formal Job offer or work contract by the company in Dominican Republic

  11. Certificate by the Ministry of Labour of Dominican Republic indicating that the company is registered with Integrated Registration System Labor (SIRLA), and in compliance with the provisions of Article 135 of the Dominican Labour Code (nationalization of the work) (not older than 3 months).

  12. Birth Certificate-duly apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (a certified translation in Spanish is mandatory).

  13. Certificate by the Ministry of Labour of Dominican Republic indicating the date of joining, designation, salary and any additional benefits from the company.

  14. Medical certificate which includes a general health diagnostic of the applicant, indicating whether he or she suffers from any type of infectious disease. This certificate must be issued by a relevant health authority, medical laboratory, clinic or hospital registered by the Ministry of Public Health.

  15. Resume, educational certificates or diplomas of the applicant.

Residence Visa

Fee: US$200

  1. Original passport with a minimum validity of 18 months.

Checklist - Documents Requirement for - Resident Visa by Retirement

  1. Original passport with a minimum validity of 18 months.

  2. Visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.

  3. One recent passport size photograph, white background, 4*5 centimetres, duly pasted on application.  (Do not staple the photographs)

  4. Cover letter from the applicant, dully signed, addressed to the corresponding consular office, containing the name, nationality, place of residence, productive activity, income source, in which he / she engages, as well as information on how he plans to establish himself in the country as an investor. This letter is does not need to be legalized nor apostilled.

  5. Birth Certificate duly apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (A certified translation in Spanish is mandatory).

  6. Police clearance certificate (PCC) emitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the respective Apostille (if applicable). PCC should not be older than 1 year, issued by the competent authorities of the countries where you have resided in the last 5 years, duly legalized or apostilled and a certified translation in Spanish is mandatory.

  7. Certificate emitted by the government, official body or private company of foreign origin which contains the general data of the applicant, time spent in the company, position held and the amount received as pension. This certificate must be translated into Spanish by a judicial interpreter, and dully legalized or apostilled.

  8. In order to benefit from the preferential regime established in Law 171-07, Pensioners or Retirees and Foreign Rentiers must receive a monthly income according to the following scale: The minimum amount of income for the Pensioner is US $ 1,500.00 dollars or its equivalent in Dominican pesos.

    In addition, the amount of 500 USD for each dependent.

  9. Medical certificate which includes a general health diagnostic of the applicant, indicating whether he or she suffers from any type of infectious disease. This certificate must be issued by a relevant health authority, medical laboratory, clinic or hospital registered by the Ministry of Public Health.

  10. Copy of any other visas, valid or expired.

Important! Once in Dominican territory Recipients of Residence Visas (RS) have a period of 30 days to appear before the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) to formalize the procedures of their residence or temporary permit. The will have to complete the additional requirements according to the Regulations for the application of the General Migration Law No. 285-04.
