Minister of State Pabitra Margherita attends the inauguration of President Luis Abinader Corona

Santo Domingo – Shri Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State (MOS) for External Affairs and Textiles of the Government of India, represented India at the inauguration ceremony of President Luis Abinader Corona’s second mandate in the Dominican Republic which took place in Santo Domingo on 16th August 2024.  This high-level representation from India highlights the growing strength of the bilateral relations between India and the Dominican Republic.

This visit also held special significance as it was the first international mission for MOS Margherita since assuming his position in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet.  After the Dominican Republic, MOS Margherita travelled to Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago, emphasizing India’s commitment to strengthening its relations with the Caribbean and Latin American regions. 

During his visit, MOS Margherita held important meetings with Dominican officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Roberto Álvarez and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador José Julio Gómez.
