Dominican Republic Hosts the Sixth Meeting of the ISA for the Latin America and the Caribbean Regions
New Delhi - The Dominican Republic hosted from 9 to 11 September 2024 the Sixth Meeting of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for Latin America and the Caribbean Regions, reaffirming its commitment to renewable energy. The event, organized by the ISA in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mines, brought together ministers and representatives from more than 15 countries of the region.
In his inaugural address the Minister of Energy and Mine of the Dominican Republic, Joel Santos Echavarría, highlighted the Dominican Republic's ambitious goal of achieving 30% renewable energy generation by 2030. ISA Director General Dr. Ajay Mathur lauded the Dominican Republic's potential for harnessing solar energy, particularly through innovative technologies like floating solar plants.
Notable attendees included Mr. Max Puig, Executive Vice President of the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism (CNCCMDL) and Kerryne James, Minister of Climate Resilience, Environment, and Renewable Energy from Grenada, who praised the Dominican Republic's vision.
