Dominican Cinema Shines on Indian Screens

Delhi – In the first trimester of 2024, Dominican cinema has made a significant mark in Indian film festivals with two productions selected to represent the country in New Delhi and Pune.

On March 10th, 2024, the Habitat Centre in New Delhi hosted a special screening of Croma Kid, directed by Dominican filmmaker Pablo Chea. The screening was part of the Habitat International Film Festival 2024, a celebrated event that brings together films from across the globe, highlighting unique and compelling stories. Croma Kid was one of the standout films in this year's line-up, drawing a diverse audience eager to explore Dominican cinema.

Earlier, in Pune, film enthusiasts had the opportunity to experience another recent celebrated production from the Dominican Republic. La Hembrita, directed by Laura Amelia Guzmán, was featured in the Global Cinema section of the 22nd edition of the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF). The festival, which ran from January 18th to 25th, 2024, is a significant event in India’s cinematic calendar.
