Dominican Poet Denisse Español takes part in International poetry festivals in New Delhi and Kolkata
New Delhi - The Dominican poet Denisse Español participated in the Ibero American Voices 2024 Festival (New Delhi, from November 27 to 29), and in the Chair Poetry Reading, Kolkata's International Poetry Festival (from November 30 to December 2), in the capital of the state of West Bengal.
The fourth edition of the Ibero American Voices Festival, organized by the Instituto Cervantes with the support of the Embassy of Mexico and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic, featured the participation of poets from Latin America and Spain: Tere Irastortza, Eduard Escoffet, and Juan Carlos Mestre (Spain), who write in Spanish, Catalan, and Basque; Mikéas Sánchez (Mexico), a poet in Spanish and Zoque (a pre-Columbian language of the Zoque ethnic group, spoken in Oaxaca and Chiapas, states in southeastern Mexico); Denisse Español from Dominican Republic, and poets from India: Subhro Bandopadhyay, Savita Singh, Sukrita Paul Kumar, Yashodhara Raychaudhuri, Madhuvan Rishi Raj, Sameer Rawal, Ashok Vajpeyi, and Agni Roy, who write in various languages of the subcontinent (Hindi, English, Bengali, Malayalam, and Urdu, among others).
As part of the Ibero American Voices Festival, Denisse Español read her poetry at different venues in New Delhi such as the Instituto Cervantes, India International Centre, Delhi University and Sahitya Akademi.
During the seventh edition of the Chair Poetry Reading, Kolkata’s International Poetry Festival, Denisse Español was presented alongside significant voices of poetry from the United States, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia, Ireland, Lithuania, Mexico, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines, as well as poets from various regions of India.
