Dominican Republic’s economy will grow 5.5% in 2021 according to the IMF's World Economic Outlook
NEW DELHI - The Dominican Republic’s economy will grow in 2021 more than initially expected according to new estimations presented by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This positive update published in the IMF's World Economic Outlook this month, predicts an expansion of 5,5% in 2021 for the Dominican economy, a figure that surpasses the earlier estimation set at 4% by the financal institution in October 2020.
The Dominican Republic's real GDP growth places itself above the 3.3% estimated for the Caribbean region and the 4.4% for South América. The Dominican Republic will have the fourth highest growth in the Latin America and Carribean region, behind Guyana, Panamá and Perú, with 16.4%, 12% and 8.5% respectively.
The same report notes that the World Economy will grow 6% in 2021 and 4.4% in 2022, after a historic contraction of -3.3% in 2020, provoqued by the sanitary crisis of the COVID-19.
