Indian Poet Subhro Bandopadhay participates in the 10th Santo Domingo International Week of Poetry
New Delhi - Indian writer Subhro Bandopadhay was one of the poets invited this year to the Santo Domingo International Week of Poetry. During his reading, held on Saturday 23rd October, he shared poems in Spanish and English and Bengali, and spoke about the nature of his multilingual work. He was introduced by the Dominican writer Jochy Herrera.
The 10th edition of the Santo Domingo International Week of Poetry took place from the 18th to the 24th of October 2021 in an hybrid mode, with readings organized in Santo Domingo, and in on-line format. It gathered poets from the Dominican Republic, Haití, Latin America, United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, India and China, amongst other countries.
Subhro Bandopadhyay is an Indian poet born in 1978, in Calcutta. Apart from an extensive list of publications in his native language, three of his poetry collections have been published in Spain: La ciudad leopardo (Olifante, 2010), Poemas metálicos (Amargord, 2013) and Sumar sal (El Sastre de Apollinaire, 2018). He has been invited to distinguished poetry festivals including the Medellin International Poetry Festival, Colombia and Expoesía, Spain. Presently, he teaches Spanish at the Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi.
