Technical Director of National Council for Climate Change participates in ICDRI 2023

New Delhi - Alan Ramirez, Technical Director of the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism (CNCCMDL) of the Dominican Republic, visited India to participate in the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI 2023) on April 4th and 5th, 2023. This annual initiative, organized by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), brings together government representatives, international organizations, specialists, and academics to exchange on solutions to enhance infrastructure resilience.

On April 3rd, Alan Ramirez also participated in the Governing Council meeting of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. As the focal point for CDRI in the Dominican Republic, CNCCMDL represents the country in the highest governing body of the institution, currently co-chaired by India and the United States.

During his intervention at the CDRI Governing Council meeting, Ramirez stressed the importance of CDRI initiatives for Small Island Developing States like the Dominican Republic. He specifically mentioned the IRIS initiative, which will support projects to enhance resilience in the Caribbean, Pacific, and Indian Ocean countries starting in 2023.

As part of his work agenda in New Delhi, on April 3rd, 2023, Alan Ramirez also held meetings with Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director of the Indian Meteorological Department, and Ms. Leenan Nandan, Aditional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change of India. The exchanges with representatives of both institutions aimed to explore possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the fight against climate change. Lastly, on April 6th, 2023, he was received at the International Solar Alliance (ISA) premises by its Director-General, Ajay Mathur, who was accompanied during the meeting by Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Additional Director in charge of projects.
