Inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Kathmandu
New Delhi- The Dominican Republic inaugurated the premises of its Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu, Nepal, with a function held on November 20th, 2023, at the Marriott hotel in Kathmandu, in the presence of Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of India, H.E. David Puig, and Mr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Honorary Consul of the Dominican Republic in Kathmandu. Minister Counsellor Gustavo Sosa and First Secretary Bianca Baez also participated in the activities of inauguration of the Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu.
The event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, H.E. Narayan Prakash Saud, as chief guest, parliamentarians, businessmen, honorary consuls and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Nepal. The event was enriched with a buffet of Dominican cuisine, prepared by the Dominican Chef Addys Jaquéz, invited specially for the occasion, rum and cigar tasting, and a bachata dance demonstration, all of which served to promote the culture and traditions of Dominican Republic.
Additionally, within the framework of the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate, the first ever Dominican Food Festival in Nepal was held from November 21 to 27 at the Marriott Kathmandu with a menu curated by Chef Addys Jaquéz followed by a “Master Class of Dominican Food” at the Fairfeld Hotel in Kathmandu. This culinary celebration offered a unique opportunity for attendees to enjoy the diversity and the richness of the Dominican cuisine.
Ambassador Puig took the opportunity of this travel to Nepal to hold a meeting with Mr. Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, head of the Europe and America Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. During this meeting, they reviewed the pending issues on the bilateral agenda, in particular the agreements under negotiations between both countries.
