Ambassador David Puig visits the State of Odisha
New Delhi - The Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of India, H.E. David Puig, conducted a two-day visit in Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Odisha, on 12th and 13th May 2022.
Invited by the Siksha O. Anusandhan University to deliver a lecture titled “Tourism in the Dominican Republic: A success story”, Ambassador Puig took the occasion to interact with faculty members and students. He was also received by professor Manojranjan Nayak, founder and President of Siksha O. Anusandhan University, along with Dr. Mahendra Prasad, Director of International Relations. After the lecture, attended by more than 200 students, Ambassador Puig stated he felt “very fortunate to have had the opportunity to present the Dominican Republic to an interested audience, and to respond to the various questions that followed” his presentation.
During his stay in Bhubaneswar Ambassador Puig paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister of Odissa, Mr. Naveen Patnaik, who shared the projects his government is undertaking to boost economic development, access to education and universal healthcare. Ambassador Puig shared with Mr. Patnaik possible areas of cooperation in the fields of trade, higher education, and culture.
On 12th of May, Ambassador David Puig was received by Dr. A.B. Ota, director of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI) who took the time to present, along with his team, the collections of the museum attached to the SCSTRTI. He then visited the premises of the new building of the Jatin Das Art Center, where the tribal and folk artifact collection gathered by the renowned Odisha artist will be displayed. Ambassador Puig also got the occasion to meet a selected group of scholars and writers from Odisha, during a dinner organized by Dr. Mahendra Prasad.
