Dominican Republic participates in the 90th Interpol General Assembly in New Delhi
New Delhi - The Dominican Republic participated in the 90th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), held in the Indian capital, New Delhi, from October 18th to 21st, 2022.
The Dominican delegation was headed by Brigadier General Paul Cordero Montes de Oca, who serves as director of the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM), and Colonel Rafael A. Feliz Martínez, commander of the ONC-INTERPOL Department, of the National Police. It also included, H.E. David Puig, ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of India, and first secretary Bianca Báez Pearson.
During the assembly, which was attended by 166 countries, INTERPOL representatives held votes for the position of Vice President of Europe, and two delegates for Africa. The winners of these elections were the representative of Belgium and current director of international police cooperation in that country, Peter De Buysscher, the director of INTERPOL in Cairo, Egypt, General Alaa El Din Mohamed Abdalah Ragab, and the deputy inspector general of Namibian administration, General Anne-Marie Nainda.
The Dominican Republic has been part of INTERPOL since June 29, 1953. Over the years, it has actively collaborated with the organization, being a strategic partner in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking in the Caribbean.
